Sunrise Sports Leagues

Welcome to another season of the GIRLS’ JR. VIKING BASKETBALL program. This program first began in 1995.  The Sunrise Optimist Club of North Topeka and the Seaman School District takes great pleasure in providing this program.

The Sunrise Optimist Club of North Topeka and the Seaman School District extends an invitation to all of our friends and fans to join us in conveying an attitude of positive sportsmanship to officials, teams and fans.  We know coaches, players and officials will be making honest mistakes.  For fans to belabor mistakes is futile and potentially harmful.  We ask from our coaches, players and fans to desist from any negative action that tends to influence the outcome of a contest.  Support should be directed to building up our own teams, not to intimidate or ridicule our opponents or officials.  Sportsmanship is good citizenship.  It is contagious - catch it!!

All games are played at Logan Elementary.  The teams will set across the gym from the bleachers. A team must have at least four players to begin the game.  The game time is the forfeit time if a team is not ready to play.  The team listed first will be the visitors and sit on the west side (or left of the scorer's table). The home team will be listed second and will sit on the east side (or right of the scorer's table).

The players will not be permitted to play with watches, earrings, rings or hard hairpieces.  Parents please see that your child adheres to this league rule before beginning the pre-game warm-ups.

Parents, please support the coach by letting him coach the team.  The coach will ask the players to play a certain way.  Please help the coach and the players, by NOT instructing the players during the game.  Your comments will confuse the players and could cause chaos during the game.

Parents please be aware of what your children are wearing to the gym. The Seaman School District has a policy governing the context of T-shirts. The League Director will ask the offending wearer to step outside the gym.

On Saturday, January 15th, we will have picture day.  Please plan on coming to the gym at least 45 minutes prior to your scheduled game time to have pictures taken.
