About Us

The Sunrise Optimist Club was chartered in 1962. This year represents our 59th year of serving Youth and the North Topeka community. On April 28, 2012 the Sunrise Optimist Club hosted a 50th Anniversary Celebration at it's Sports Complex Activity Building, 720 NW 50th Street, Topeka, Kansas.  To learn more about the history of the Sunrise Optimist Club, just click here to download the 50th Anniversary Booklet.

Our Purpose:

To develop optimism as a philosophy of life;

To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs;

To inspire respect for law;

To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people;

To aid and encourage the development of youth in the belief that the giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well-being of people, the community, and the world.

We are affiliated with Optimist International. Optimist International was established in 1919 and is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. There are 3,590 clubs all across the United States, Canada, and other countries world-wide. More than 100,000 individuals presently enjoy membership in Optimist International.
